System Loading

The DOT Trader application allows the user to display unlimited real-time charts and displays.  The individual computer hardware, the amount of streaming data, and number of displays all impact performance.  The CPU and memory resources can be pushed very hard.  To show the current loading on system hardware, two load indicators are displayed in the Ribbon Bar.

  1. The first Load Indicator represents the message flow.

    1. If the first indicator peaks to 100% for a sustained period of time, then the computer resources can not keep up with the real-time streaming data.
    2. For historical data analysis, this should not be a problem.
    3. For real-time data analysis and trading, it is recommended that the real-time steaming data is reduced by removing one or more received symbols.

  2. The second Load Indicator represents the chart refresh rate.

    1. If the second indicator peaks to 100% for a sustained period of time, then the computer resources can not keep up with the number of charts displayed.
    2. For historical data collection, this should not be a problem.
    3. For real-time data analysis and trading, it is recommended that the number of charts displayed is reduced by minimizing or closing one or more charts.
